Heather has been working as a Nurse in Calgary since 2006, with a wide variety of practice experience ranging from Medical-Surgical, Intensive Care, Hematology, Oncology, Plastics, Dentistry, and Dermatology. It was through her time working in the dermatology field that she developed the desire to further her education and pursue training to become a Nurse Practitioner.
For those who are unfamiliar with the role of the NP, they are Registered Nurses who have met additional education, experience and exam requirements set by the Provincial College. They are authorized to diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medication and other treatments.
Heather obtained her Masters in Nursing with a Generalist focus through Athabasca University and followed this with a Post Graduate Nurse Practitioner Program: Family All Ages. She has also completed a Post Masters Diploma in Clinical Dermatology. Along with this advanced education, she has worked alongside many well-respected physicians in Calgary, and has been mentored for 10 years by Dr. Jennifer Guillemaud.
Her practice is now focused on the surveillance and management of patients at high-risk for non-melanoma skin cancers, as well as low-risk melanoma. She augments her oncology-based practice with a thriving aesthetic service offering cosmetic injectables and medical grade chemical peels.
Calgary Skin Cancer Centre is pleased to offer our high-risk patients access to Heather's expertise and trust they will value her care as part of our multi-disciplinary team.
